On April 26, NASA astronauts performed the first teleoperation of a humanoid robot aboard the ISS:
"NASA astronaut Tom Marshburn spent much of his morning in the Destiny laboratory working with Robonaut 2, the first humanoid robot in space. After setting up Robonaut in the lab, Marshburn donned telerobotics gear that included a special helmet and gloves that allowed him successfully to command the robot by having it copy his movements. This capability will allow the astronauts to make real-time decisions and control Robonaut’s actions from inside the station. Robonaut was designed with the intention of eventually taking over tasks deemed too dangerous or mundane for astronauts, perhaps even venturing outside the complex. 4월 26일, NASA 우주비행사들 국제우주정거장(ISS)에 탑재된 인간로봇 세계 최초 원격조종 수행:
"NASA 우주비행사 톰 마쉬번(Tom

International Space
Station (ISS)
... to boldly
go where no motion capture system has gone before
NASA
Robonaut
Program
2011 |
 |
May 27, 2011- Burnaby, BC,
Canada –US NASA uses several Visualeyez systems
for their R&D including tele-robotic manipulation in the Robonaut program.
VZ4050 system will be launched to the International Space Station soon, and will
be the first Motion Capture system to ever go to space!
The Visualeyez
system from PhoeniX Technologies Incorporated
(PTI) has gone through innumerable tests and
has passed them all. PTI trackers have been chosen for:
1. reliable
real-time operation, 2. wide angle makes it able to capture an entire
astronaut even within the tiny space station chambers, 3. low-power
consumption, and 4. high ruggedness for the rocket ride.

Partnership
with Toronto Rehab Institute
Challenging Environment
Assessment Laboratory (CEAL)
"Most advanced rehabilitation
research facility in the world" |
PTI lends expertise to unique
subterranean lab project
January 04, 2011-
Burnaby, BC, Canada – PhoeniX Technologies Incorporated (PTI) recently installed their Visualeyez™ 3D Active Optical Motion
Tracking systems at Toronto Rehabilitation
Institute’s CEAL underground laboratory, which
is the centerpiece of iDAPT (Intelligent Design for Adaptation, Participation and Technology).
This underground laboratory will be one of the world’s most advanced networks of
rehabilitation research and development facilities when fully completed in 2011.
Scientists will use the underground lab to study older people and those with
disabilities as they encounter real-life challenges in a safe experimental
setting. The goal is to develop practical solutions that help people live as
fully and independently as possible.
PhoeniX Technologies
Visualeyez™ 3D Motion Tracking
systems will be installed in the three large
chambers (or payloads) that provide different settings for researchers to study
interactions between people and their environment. The chambers will be lifted
on and off a motion simulator that can produce a range of motions like rolling,
accelerating or pitching up and down―and creating different sights and sounds.
One of the chambers is an “ice chamber” that can generate winter-like
conditions, complete with sub-zero temperatures.
PhoeniX Technologies adapted
their Motion Tracking systems to withstand the continuously moving environment,
sub-zero degree temperatures and various other challenges whilst collecting good
3D Motion Data at all times.

World’s smallest
full-featured 3D Active Optical
Motion Capture System
Launched |

|
! |
November 2, 2009 -
Burnaby, BC, CANADA. –
PhoeniX Technologies Inc.
(PTI) today announced the launch of their revolutionary VZ4050 Tracking system. This system
offers all features currently available with PTI’s Visualeyez VZ4000,
at half the form factor!
Effectively measuring only
62cm in length and weighing in at 2.2kgs (4.9lbs), the VZ4050 offers real-time
active optical motion capture through their patented wide-angle technology (90
degrees in both pitch and yaw; 106 degrees diagonally at 5m). A single VZ4050
can be used to capture 3D data from up to 512 markers in real-time or multiple
VZ4050 units (theoretically unlimited, tested up to 24) can be strung together
to capture a larger area or motions from multiple subjects and
objects.
The new small form factor at
62cm opens up real-time capture research possibilities in areas such as human
factor engineering, Aircraft Cockpit pilot/instrument interaction, car and truck
cabin driver/instrument interaction, in-vehicle crash test impact monitoring,
Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, etc. Coupled with PTI’s automatic and
adaptive calibration capabilities provided through VZAutoCal, the VZ4050 sets a
new benchmark in active optical motion capture technology.
Visualeyez 3D motion capture systems
have been developed to meet the world demand for superior systems to deliver
high quality 3D motion capture data in real-time. What differentiates PTI’s
Visualeyez systems from
others is their combination of exceptionally wide-angle high accuracy sensing,
always real-time operation, high portability, light weight, and flawless
intrinsic marker ID tracking capabilities. Today’s addition of the VZ4050
further makes Visualeyez a complete ‘turn-key’ family of systems. |
